The Portishead in Bloom (PIB) team had plenty to celebrate recently when they were recognised for the work they do to brighten up the town with a number of accolades at the South West in Bloom Awards.
Aside from once again clinching a Gold award, bringing their tally over the years to 13, including one won at the last edition, PIB came first in their category – a feat that earned them the coveted St Bridget Cup. Other prizes remain in the offing, with PIB recipients still to be notified and details shared.
An annual event, the South West in Bloom Awards ceremony was this year held in Weston-super-Mare at the Winter Gardens and follows decision-making visits in July by judges to towns around the region.
The ceremony produced other local success stories, including High Down school, which won the Viridor Cup for the Best School Composting Initiative, while Sarah Tynan Flowers gained a Silver Gilt award in the Business category.
Look out for the Portishead in Bloom 2022 calendar, which will soon be available to buy at key price points around town, priced £5, with proceeds going to the charity.
