Musicians across Gordano School have come together to perform a repertoire of festive favourites with an annual Christmas Carol Service, held at St Nicholas Church in Portishead, and two Christmas Concert performances which took place at Gordano School this December.
The programme of festive offerings began with an evening Carol Service taking place at St Nicholas Church.
The Reverend Rob Eastwood Dewing welcomed students and members of the congregation to the church. The Service included ever-popular hymns including ‘It Came Upon a Midnight Clear’, and ‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen’, plus some extra musical performances from Gordano Students, interspersed with readings.
It was a lovely event, and well attended by members of Gordano School and the wider Portishead Community.
Students from across the entire school also took part in the two Christmas Concerts, delighting the audience with some old favourites acts, including the Beaters, Chamber Choir, and Concert Band naming but a few of the performers.
Two of the absolute highlights of the evening were a fantastic set performed by student band the Mallards, and a brilliant version of the Nutcracker Suite performed by the Main School Orchestra.
Sixth Form compère duo Lizzie Wilson and Bridie King amused, entertained and provided fluidity to the evening’s entertainment and enjoyment, whilst delivering one or two cheesy Christmas jokes!
Student fundraisers provided refreshments during the interval, with proceeds donated to Gordano School supported charities and the World Challenge Expedition.
Music teachers Guy Guerrini, and Mathew Davies, orchestrated another highly successful event, helped along enormously by student volunteers, Gordano School support staff and the Creative Arts Faculty.
