Members of Gordano Breakfast Rotary Club, supported by the KidsOut organisation UK, hosted a “Lunch with Santa” event last month at the Saint Barnabas Children’s centre in Portishead.

The twenty special guests were drawn from families who regularly use the centre and ranged in age from eight months to four years.

The children arrived with carers and parents and soon sat down at a festively decorated table with Christmas crackers and KidsOut caps for all children.

They were treated to a sumptuous feast of teeny egg sandwiches, mini sausages, tomatoes, fruit, vegetable batons and chocolate muffins.

Santa then arrived and was happily engaged in giving out bespoke gift bags to all the children. Some children were in awe of Santa while others were a little wary, but nevertheless, parents took the opportunity of having a photograph taken with the jolly fellow.

The children were very happy with their gift bags and the feedback from parents was very encouraging for the Rotary club to organise a follow-up event perhaps for Easter.

Gordano Breakfast Rotary meets every second and fourth Thursday of the month. For more information on how to get involved contact gbrcmembership@gmail.com or visit http://www.gordanobreakfastrotary.org/
