The Portishead Christmas Lights Switch-on is always an annual highlight on the community calendar and the 2021 event on Monday November 29 is expected to be even more special after the pandemic made a public gathering last year unfeasible.

Even better, this year brings with it an opportunity to not only attend the popular switch-on ceremony, but also have a say in who gets to light up the town!

Portishead Christmas Lights is asking residents to nominate a local hero to switch on the lights at the event. Criteria are simply that the nominee is local and has made a difference in a positive way in the community.

To make a nomination, go to www. portisheadchristmaslights.co.uk and you’ll find the link at the bottom of the Switch-On dropdown bar.

The team are asking that you read the T&Cs carefully and give as much information as possible about why you’ve chosen your nominee.

Closing date for nominations is 9am, Saturday October 23.
