Inspiring Clevedon School student Freya Hayles, 17, is about to cook up her second big breakfast to feed fellow students and raise hundreds to get to Africa later this year.

She has been inspired by teenager Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani girl who was shot in the head by the Taliban for demanding education for girls.

Now Freya is embarking on a journey to rural Africa with Clevedon School this year working alongside charity Mend the Gap.

Freya, who plans a career in law, hopes to be able to educate the students of local villages in English and Maths as well as build basic amenities for the whole village.  Clevedon School plans to take numerous students on the trip.

Freya said: “I hope to help more children in Africa later this year. Our school adventure will clearly have a positive impact on this settlement and its people.”
