A dazzling sunny day provided the backdrop for the 60th Clevedon Gardeners Club Spring Flower Show to get off to a bright start, despite an extremely cold easterly wind.

Walking into the warm sunny Princes Hall, visitors said it was like walking into spring, however cold outside, and a crowd of nearly 400 visited the show to admire the first flowers of spring, plants, art and craft, photography, baking and preserves.

There was a special, People’s Choice Award class to celebrate the 60th Diamond Anniversary of the Flower and this was won by Pam Tooth for her extremely clever and unusual display using live plant material.  There were several new prize winners during the day, and the Don Everitt Cup went to Carol Raines.

Sadly there were no entries in the Children and Young Adult Classes and organisers hope next year to target more successfully entries for this section as it creates a lot of pleasure both for the entrants and the visitors.

The free Hamper Draw was won by Mrs Harper of Pyne Point, Clevedon.
